Google Apps for Education Centralized & Pushed

President Obama challenged today’s students to be as innovative and creative as Google, Facebook, and Twitter with the way each of these tools has changed the way we communicate with each other.

It’s the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and found this nation. Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google, Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other.

-President Obama

Not one to miss a good marketing moment, today has released a new centralized site promoting their Google Apps for Education program.  Google Apps for Education has been around for a while, but has just started to receive front line attention from the Big G with the news that Education App subscribers would be among the first to test Google Wave, and today’s prime-time PR with the President certainly doesn’t hurt.  Those at Techcrunch see this as no surprise as building brand loyalty through Education markets is nothing new, but has been proven to be effective (see Apple or Dell).

Does your institution already use Google Apps for Education, or are they waiting?
